A Spin-Off company is defined as a Technology-Based Company (TBC) that emerged from the university or public body of R & D with a strong technological component and generally a high innovation load.
The University of Salamanca, based on its own Statutes, has drawn up the Regulations for the Promotion of the Creation of Spin-Off Companies (approved in the Governing Council of April 28, 2016) with the purpose of regulating the support and participation procedures, and the mechanisms of knowledge transfer and research results of the University of Salamanca. All this in order to encourage those innovative and entrepreneurial initiatives arising from the university community itself, making available to the entrepreneurs the resources and advice needed to create a new company.
Companies can apply for recognition as Spin-Off of the University of Salamanca when they are promoted by teachers or researchers, administration and services personnel or students or graduates of the University of Salamanca (USAL).
In addition to this recognition, a company may apply for association with the USAL through some of the support mechanisms (not mutually exclusive):
Collaboration agreement: would include legal advice and business consultancy, search for funding, access to certain facilities of the USAL or Science Park, and access to programs, competition and promotional activities for entrepreneurs.
Participation in the share capital of the company.
This recognition or association can be requested even before the company has been set up, so that agreements and mechanisms can be developed at the same time that the company advances in its constitution.
